Vito’s nomination, by Christie Brenneck, reads as follows:

“Vito embodies the true spirit of Cazenovia. He is a leader in the school and encourages others to participate in school sports, activities, and spirit weeks.  I witnessed Vito in action at the Burton Street Halloween parade.  He high-fived every kid, danced with them and played with them all while dressed in a T-Rex costume.  His participation and spirit made me so proud, and he did it just to make the younger kids happy.  You will also see Vito often as a guest speaker on the morning announcements.  He goes on the announcements to encourage others to go to games, to participate in spirit week activities and just to encourage students to be involved.  Vito is also President of the Senior Class and was Captain of the Varsity Football Team.”

The Cazenovia Lions Club is proud to give the November Student of the Month award to Vito for his boundless enthusiasm and true Cazenovia Spirit.

Jason Olkowski, who is in the 12th grade at Cazenovia High School, has been selected as the Cazenovia Lions Club Student of the Month for December 2019.  Jason is the son of Kim and Michael Olkowski of Cazenovia.

Jason’s nomination, by Christina New, reads as follows:

“It is my pleasure to nominate Jason Olkowski for the Lions Club Award.   Over the last year, I have watched Jason blossom into a leader who is empathetic, respectful, loyal, and has a positive attitude.  Jason has grown into a young man who is relaxed in his reactions to the roller coaster others can sometimes invite him to ride on.  He has an inner compass that has guided his decisions as far as his own choices, habits, and responsibilities. He can cook, clean, do his own laundry, excel in his academics, manage sports, volunteer and maintain friendships. He is the quiet leader who is the steady and reliable presence to all those who love him.”

“This year, Jason is taking Business Leadership at Caz HS with me.  In class, Jason is helpful and offers some great insight in our class discussions.  I’ve observed Jason doing some great things!  He stays after to thank and talk to class guest speakers to learn more about their careers and get extra leadership advice, he brushes snow off teachers cars after school in the parking lot ‘without anyone asking!’, he brings extra money to school to buy lunch for some of his friends, he puts forth his best effort in his academics and sports taking each practice and game very seriously, he removes his hat when singing the National Anthem at a class field trip and does many other good deeds for staff and students each day!  Jason is always helping me and others and deserves to be recognized as a leader!”

The Cazenovia Lions Club is proud to give the December Student of the Month award to Jason for his quiet leadership and service to others in our community.
