
Burton St. Elementary Recognized as a Blue Ribbon School
The U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced today that Burton Street Elementary School in Cazenovia, NY was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School. The National Blue Ribbon Schools award highlights and gives recognition to both public and private elementary, middle
and high schools that are producing outstanding results for all students regardless of race or socioeconomic status.
Schools recognized as Blue Ribbon Schools are those that have demonstrated consistent excellence in student achievement. The Blue Ribbon Program is part of the larger U.S. Department of Education’s effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about the best school leadership and teaching practices.
Burton Street Elementary was nominated by the NYS Department of Education as a school, whose students, regardless of backgrounds, is high performing. This means Burton Street is ranked among the state’s highest performing schools as measured by their performance on state assessments.
The school will be formally recognized in Washington D.C. in early November.
