Burton Street Elementary School

Burton Street… home of the Blue Waves. Burton Street’s official mascot is the Blue Wave which provides a symbol that unites our school.  Our young students are catching the wave by showing Pride in all they do, Respect for the students and staff, and by their Honesty, Caring and Responsibility they show each and every day. When you visit Burton please take time to check our Character Ed Posters to see the many ways our students show Pride, Respect, Honesty, Caring and Responsibility towards others. We have extended our Blue Wave to our community by the various community service projects and the letters community members write and send in telling us how they “caught” our students catching the wave.  We encourage our students to “Catch the Wave” as we continue on our character education journey!

It is a requirement for all public schools in New York State “to screen all new entrants to determine those students who may be gifted or who may possibly have a handicapping condition.” The screening is a preliminary method of distinguishing such students from the general population.

In order for registration to be complete, each child is required to have proof of age and evidence of immunization against measles, rubella (German Measles) mumps, polio, hepatitis B, diphtheria, and chicken pox.

Burton Street school operates on a cycle that allows for repeat of special activities every six days. These activities include gym, art, music, library, and computer. Gym classes will meet four time every six days, music meets twice, art, library, and computer meet once each cycle. At the start of school, parents will receive a schedule of their child’s classes.
