Fourth grade students from Burton Street Elementary School competed in the MOST’s CNY Rocket Challenge recently!
Students from all over the region designed, built and made predictions for their rockets based on their learning of the different forces in action.
The two teams were made up of team “Smith’s in Space” (Sam Schofield, Kiki Santiago, Lauder Skidmore and Greyson Fountain) and team “Sojournor RS” (Marissa Bock, Avery Howe (Not pictured), Bryleigh Duerr, Caleb Hyatt and Clayton Weisbrod).
Altimeters were placed inside each rocket to compare each group’s prediction against its actual flight. There were contests for height, closest to the launch pad, knowledge and overall look of the rocket. The two teams from Burton Street had successful flights and their “Egg”stronaut survived their flights!
