Cazenovia, NY – Congratulations to the Hall of Fame Class of 2015, inducted into the Cazenovia Lakers Sports Hall of Fame on Friday, September 25, 2015. New members to the Cazenovia Lakers Sports Hall of Fame included, Dick Butler, Leland Avery, Tim Ryan, Suzanne Ryan, Steve Paluseo, Coach Tom Neidl, Kara Cannizzaro, and Heather Stec. New plaques highlighting the distinguished careers of these “hall of famers” will be on display soon at the Cazenovia High School’s Hall of Fame case located at the first floor hallway just inside from the west parking lot. In addition to the individuals being honored, the Hall of Fame recognized four teams as Hall of Fame Teams of Distinction. They were as follows: 1937 Football, 1955 Football, 1956 Football, and 1962 Wrestling. Two community members were honored with Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Awards. Awards were given to Bob Kelly and Bucky Bennett. Two new plaques for the Hall of Fame Teams of Distinction award and the Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Person award will also soon be hung at the Hall of Fame Display. A great time was had as nearly 200 people gathered for the ceremony, held at the Rusty Rail in Canastota, NY. Many thanks go to the volunteers, presenters, Jack Stevens (the emcee), and the selection committee for your efforts. A special debt of gratitude is extended to Hall of Fame Dinner chairperson, Katie Cannizzaro. The Cazenovia Athletic Association, in conjunction with the Cazenovia Central School, established the Cazenovia Lakers Sports “Hall of Fame” in 2003. Hall of Fame inductees are selected for their total dedication, consistent commitment to excellence and many accomplishments in athletics during their years at Cazenovia Central School and beyond. Nominations for Hall of Fame Candidates are accepted throughout the year. Candidates must be out of high school for at least five years before becoming eligible for consideration.
