Cazenovia Students Earn College Credit Through RIT

Written by on . Posted in *District News, Featured Posts, News

Congratulations are due to every student who took Mr. Hyatt’s Design and Drawing for Production (DDP) course and completed the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) final exam. All 37 students who took the exam scored high enough to earn college credit through Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

The performance of our students on these assessments can be credited to all of our teachers in our district, especially our Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) teachers. The concepts that students are assessed on are not acquired in a silo type of environment but instead draw from what they have learned in all their classes, problem-solving, and critical thinking they have done through their years in Cazenovia schools.

According to PLTW, “End-of-Course Assessments replace outdated approaches that only measure students’ knowledge through memorization and solving problems without real-world context. Using innovative, inquiry-based items, PLTW’s redesigned Assessments measure a broader range of knowledge, skills, and cognitive abilities, and deliver a dynamic experience that is authentic to the learning environment of the PLTW classroom.”

Individual assessment scores broken down by skill clusters will be emailed to students and parents.
