Cazenovia Central School District has the third-highest graduation rate – 94.37 percent – of all school districts in the six-county Syracuse region, according to a new report from Buffalo-based Business First magazine. Cazenovia was behind only Brookfield (100 percent) and Hamilton (95 percent) among high schools in Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, Oswego and Tompkins counties. Among the 677 school districts in the 48 Upstate New York counties, Cazenovia’s graduation rate ranked 87th. Buffalo First also analyzed schools’ performance on the 2012 Scholastic Aptitude Test, and Cazenovia was ranked 30th of the 476 public high schools in Upstate New York, with an average combined SAT score of 1,617 points. Students’ average scores in the individual test sections were 537 (reading), 558 (math) and 522 (writing). In the Syracuse region, which includes schools in Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, Oswego and Tompkins counties, Cazenovia students’ had the seventh-highest score.
