Michael Gugino, a senior at Cazenovia High School has been selected as the Cazenovia Lions Club Student of the Month for September 2015. Michael is the son of Joseph and Brigid Gugino of Cazenovia. Michael has performed over 400-hours of community service. He volunteers on the Student Core at CAVAC and has served in leadership positions. He was Treasurer during his junior year and is currently Chief of Operations of the CAVAC Student Core. He has also served 3-years in the Teen Summer Volunteer Program at Upstate University Hospital. Michael was one of five junior boys selected by Cazenovia American Legion Post 88 to participate in Boys State with 1,000 boys from throughout New York State at Morrisville College this July. The boys formed and operated their own government as well as participating in leadership development activities. Michael was also one of 24 students selected from applications from throughout the state to participate in Medquest this summer. Medquest is a week-long residential camp at Upstate University Hospital for students interested in exploring a career in the medical field. Michael participated in the Academic Decathlon in the spring and won a first place medal in both Math and Science and a second place medal in both Economics and Art in his division. Michael holds a leadership position in the Communications Club and is the founder of the Cazenovia High School Chess Club. He also participated on the yearbook staff for three years. The Cazenovia Lions Club is pleased to recognize Michael for his community/school service and leadership. Justin Streeter, a junior at Cazenovia High School has been selected as the Cazenovia Lions Club Student of the Month for October, 2015. Justin is the son of Jennifer and Scott Streeter of Canastota. Justin is a quiet young man, who strives to serve others and do the right thing at all times. He has been singing in Chamber Choir since 10th grade and has demonstrated a great deal of dedication and willingness to prioritize in order to fulfill the many required commitments of the group. As a member of Concert Choir and also the cast for “Singin’ In The Rain,” Justin has provided a fine leadership example for others to follow. He is willing to extend himself outside of his comfort zone in order to inspire and influence others. Justin volunteers regularly in his community, in particular participating each year in the Madison County Walk for Autism. Last year his team raised over $5,000 for this cause. In short, we believe that Justin is deserving of recognition because he does not seek it. He simply lives a life of high moral values, service and caring for others. The Cazenovia Lions Club is pleased to recognize Justin for his community/school service and leadership.
