Cazenovia High School senior Carter Williams has been selected to sing in the 2021 NAfME All-Eastern Mixed Choir. The Eastern Division Honors Ensemble Festival, sponsored by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), was held this past weekend in Pittsburgh, PA (students attended virtually).
At Cazenovia, Williams is a member of the Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Drama Club and Tri-M Music Honors Society. This past winter, Williams performed with the 2020 NYSSMA All-State Mixed Chorus. Outside of the music program, Williams is an avid member of the Academic Decathlon and Shakespeare Club.
The Eastern Division Honors Ensemble Festival features the top musicians from Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Vermont. Williams prepared the challenging music selections to be performed under the leadership of prominent conductors of this biennial event.
The NAFME All-Eastern Honors Ensembles consist of a concert band, symphony orchestra, mixed chorus, treble chorus, and jazz ensemble. Each of the state music educators associations in the Eastern Division oversee the selection process in their state during the fall and recommend juniors and seniors for consideration.
NAfME is among the world’s largest arts education organizations and addresses all aspects of music education. NAfME advocates at the local, state, and national levels; provides resources for teachers, parents, and administrators; hosts professional development events; and offers a variety of opportunities for students and teachers.
Congratulations to Carter Williams!
