Students at the Cazenovia Middle School participated in three activities during our Health and Wellness Friday morning.
The Cazenovia Fire Department presentation focused on emergency procedures. Their main message to students was to talk with their families about what to do if there is a fire in your home. For example, do you have a meeting place outside your home if there were a fire? Do you practice exit routes? Our three fire fighters were Mr. Jeff Smith, Mr. Don Arnold, and Mr. Joe McLaughlin, all Cazenovia Central School graduates. These brave volunteers gave us a demonstration of the safety equipment they use during a fire. We very much appreciated their service to our community and their willingness to speak with our students.
Our guests from the Army National Guard talked with our classes about resiliency. They offered eight strategies for overcoming difficult issues our young people face.
Our final presentation focused on educating students about the dangers of vaping. The Madison County BRIDGES educators provided students with information about the chemicals found in vaping products and the potential health risks of using these unregulated devices.
We appreciate the support from these agencies to make our kids healthier and safer.
