Introducing New Faculty: Cherie Ward
Please join us in welcoming Miss Cherie Ward to Burton Street as a second grade teacher. Miss Ward earned her B.S. in Childhood Education and Special Education from St. John Fisher College. While in college she participated in Relay for Life, Teddi Dance for Love, and was President of the Fisher Ski Club. From there, Miss Ward attended SUNY Cortland to complete her Master’s in Literacy.

Miss Ward graduated from Fabius-Pompey High School where she participated in softball, band, and other academic clubs. Before coming to Burton Street, Miss Ward taught second grade and fifth grade for several years at McGraw Elementary School.
When asked what influenced her decision to pursue a career in education, she responded, “In high school, I spent my summers teaching swim lessons to children and winters as a ski instructor. It was empowering to be able to make a difference in the lives of children, guide them to success, and inspire them to discover a love of learning.
While not teaching at our elementary school, Miss Ward can be found spending time with her family and friends on the lake or at the ski center.
