Cazenovia Junior High Drama Club students took center stage on November 7th and 8th when they presented the classic Disney musical ALADDIN for a sold out crowd! Complete with magic carpet and the beloved score by Alan Menken, ALADDIN was a must-see for families, who cherish the irrepressible genie, his young smitten master, and the strong-willed princess, who have delighted and inspired children since the movie’s release in 1992. Cast members claimed this “rag to riches” story as their own as they soared through the energetic extravaganza of “Friend Like Me” and “Prince Ali,” while capturing the vocal and lyrical beauty of the theme song, “A Whole New World.” Stellar performances by lead characters included C.J. Monroe (Aladdin), Betsy Chanatry (Jasmine), Kyler Hathaway (Sultan), Jackson Wright (Genie), Jonathan Benn (Jafar), Naomi Hamlin-Navias (Iago), Laura Connor, Morgan Gregg, Kayla Karmis, Kathryn Kielbasinski, Hannah Matteson and Meg Seeley as Narrators, Angelo Annotto as Razoul, Douglas Buckley, Ronan DeFanti, Ian Melvin, Jonathan Streeter, Ben Tainter as Guards, Maddie Meigs as Handmaiden, Ava Hartley (Magic Carpet) and Whole New World and Harem Dancers, Katie Ammann, Clari Atherlay, Abby Burrell, Emmie Dolbear, Julia Falge, MaryRose Giangiobbe, Skyler Grimes, Olivia Hodge, and Townspeople, Hailey Kubiniec , Rachel Lines and Mackenzie Sullivan. Cast and crew members numbered over 70 students and cast members have been in rehearsal since the beginning of the school year. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew for such memorable teamwork and talent and many thanks to the families, staff and community members that made this production such a huge success.
