Thirty new members of Cazenovia High School Owahgena Chapter of the National Honor Society were inducted into membership on Tuesday, November 12th. Under the guidance of faculty advisor, Mrs. Susan Tresco, current National Honor Society officers, Alex Galle, Molly Brown, Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Goodman and Claire Edwards were masters of ceremonies. All current senior class members of the National Honor Society also participated in the student lead induction ceremony. The officers welcomed the guests, as well as described the four standards of the organization: scholarship, leadership, service and character. Officers introduced each inductee by sharing three adjectives that faculty felt best described them and then a current member pinned each inductee. The current members and new inductee then stated the National Honor Society oath. A reception followed in the High School Cafeteria. Students must meet eligibility requirements for consideration for membership into the National Honor Society, as well as complete a formal application process. Members of the National Honor Society must maintain certain obligations, including participation in service activities coordinated by the chapter, such as the annual NHS Blood Drive and chapter tutoring program. The district is extremely proud of the junior and senior class 2019 inductees, as they represent a significantly talented group of individuals committed to academics, leadership, character and service to others.
