Dear Cazenovia Middle School Students and Families,
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. We certainly miss seeing our Lakers and look forward to welcoming everyone back to the building on September 7th. The middle school starts at 8:30 am. We will welcome students into the building at 8:15 am. Students in grades 5th through 7th will enter through the main entrance and walk to the cafeteria. Students will be supervised in the cafeteria until 8:25 a.m. when they will be dismissed to go to homeroom. Our District’s operational procedures were outlined in the District’s Updated Reopening Plan. Similar to last year, I created a quick glance for our middle school families that also outlines arrival and dismissal procedures: CMS Updated Reopening Plan.
A great deal of time and thought went into the process of creating homerooms and schedules for the 2021-2022 school year. Homerooms and other middle school information will be in the mail on Friday, August 27th. Our 5th grade students will receive this information Thursday at orientation. We will mail this information home for any students that are unable to attend. All students will go to homeroom on the first day of school to receive schedules, locker assignments, planners, and review building procedures. Families will be contacted in September if their student will be receiving Academic Intervention Services. These services will be scheduled in September and schedules will be updated.
We are delighted to welcome new additions to our staff:
- Art: Julia Macreery
- English as a second Language: Dana Cole
- Physical Education: Chris Bubble
- Math 7 and Math 7/8: Connor Carroll
- Spanish: Laura Shippee
- School Psychologist Intern: Samantha Kio
- Math Interventionist: Vicki Gilliland
- Administrative Intern: Amy Sumner
As we continue to prepare for the upcoming school year, please make sure all contact information is up-to-date in Powerschool. We will continue to utilize School Messenger and email for communication, along with our CMS website, Announcement slides, and social media. Our partnership between school and home is greatly appreciated.
I would like to create a shared-decision making team for our middle school. Please let me know if you would like to be a parent representative. I anticipate this team will meet a few times out of the year to discuss middle school, ideas, and share goals.
Our CMS team appreciates you entrusting us with your student(s). We are thankful to be a part of their journey through middle school. My door is always open. Please feel free to reach out to me or your student’s teachers if you have any questions.
Principal, Cazenovia Middle School
