Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year from Mr. Dubik

Dear School Community, Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year and a special welcome to our incoming kindergarten class, the Class of 2025. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to those students and families that are coming to the Cazenovia School District for the first time. The summer is always a busy time preparing for the coming school year. The new District Website will be available by Monday, August 27th. We hope you find the new site a more user-friendly reference for all your questions regarding each school and the events that are occurring weekly within the District. The summer also found us recycling previously used materials in the front of the Middle School and we will be using the wood from a damaged tree for our scorer’s hut at our Sean Googin Complex. One more improvement that you will not see, but your children and staff will certainly benefit from, is the new wireless capabilities that have been installed in all of our buildings. Our teachers have been preparing for this coming school year with the continued goal of improving programming and student achievement. Last school year the High School offered two new AP classes along with more than 15 college classes offered at no cost with Tompkins Cortland Community College. This year a goal of the Board of Education is to continue our academic successes, as well as to focus on 21st Century skills to ensure career readiness (a complete list of the Board goals can be found on our Website). If you have any questions about career readiness programs, or other programs, please contact the High School Guidance Office. Again this year I will be holding several Community Forums. Please check your school calendar and our Website for the dates of these forums. The purposes of these forums are to generate ideas from parents and community members as to how we can continue to improve our schools. The first forum is scheduled for Thursday, October 11th at 7:30 PM in the High School Library. It is important to me that our parents be involved in their child’s education. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, please contact your child’s teacher, building principal, or myself. District-wide contact information can be found on the school Website (www.caz.cnyric.org) and in the School Calendar, which is distributed to each household in the Cazenovia School District. A successful school year can only be achieved when the home, school and community work together. Have a great school year! Mr. Robert S. Dubik Superintendent, CCSD
