Brendan Wells, a senior at Cazenovia High School, has been selected as Cazenovia Lions Club Student of the Month for September 2014. Brendan is the son of Michael and Eireann Wells of Cazenovia. The Lions Club Student of the Month selection is based upon exemplary school and/or community service. Brendan’s nomination was submitted by Mr. Robert Oldfield of the Cazenovia High School Faculty and reads as follows: “Brendan Wells is a member of the football and golf teams. He plays in both the Jazz and Wind ensembles. Brendan is a member of the National Honor Society and Mock Trial teams. He has given time to the summer baseball league, Pop Warner, Cazenovia Library, and St. James Church as service to his community. Most recently, Brendan has volunteered to coach a student from Burton Street Elementary who will be participating in the Special Olympics. Brendan is a model student and citizen in our school community.” The Cazenovia Lions Club is pleased to honor Brendan for his leadership and service. Student of the Month nominations can be made by students, school staff members, parents or community members. Nomination forms are available from the Assistant Principal’s Office at Cazenovia High School or from the Cazenovia Lions Club. Kiersten Skinner, a senior at Cazenovia High School, has been selected as Cazenovia Lions Club Student of the Month for October 2014. Kiersten is the daughter of Michael Skinner and Carrie Steinbauer of Cazenovia. The Lions Club Student of the Month selection is based upon exemplary school and/or community service. Kiersten was nominated by Mrs. Terry Campbell of the Cazenovia High School Faculty and reads as follows: “I nominate Kiersten Skinner for Student of the Month. Kiersten has been an essential part of our high school music department since she was a freshman. She plays bass in the Orchestra and String Ensemble and also sings in Concert Choir and Chamber Choir. Kiersten volunteers her time and talents wherever there is a need. She has played in the pit orchestra for the Drama Club musicals and is an active member of the Tri M Music Honor Society. She encourages others to get involved in music department activities and supports her classmates in their endeavors. Kiersten works to make every event successful and enjoyable for all. She maintains a positive attitude, is focused in class and in rehearsal and gives her best effort at all times. She is not afraid to challenge herself and step out of her comfort zone. She accepts every opportunity to learn and grow, always seeking constructive criticism and feedback. In short, Kiersten leads by example. She is a joy to teach and to know.” The Cazenovia Lions Club is pleased to honor Kiersten for her Service to the school and community.
