Job & Career Solutions


Although the Counseling Office is here to help, outside organizations can assist with career and job opportunities when students are out of school. Some organizations can help find summer employment and assist students aged 14+.

The Workforce Development Board, Herkimer, Madison, and Oneida Counties, Inc. (WDB HMO), DBA Working Solutions, is part of the Public Workforce System, a network of federal, state, and local offices that support economic expansion and develop the talent of the nation’s workforce.

State and local WDBs serve as connectors between the U.S. Department of Labor and more than 2,500 local American Job Centers that deliver services to workers and employers. The WDB's role is to develop regional strategic plans and set funding priorities for their area.

  • Working Solutions provides intensive job search assistance to help you find employment.
  • Assistance with resume, cover letters, and interviewing skills.
  • Contact work employers for possible work experience and on-the-job training.
  • Breaking down barriers (childcare, transportation, disability, criminal records, etc.)
  • Supportive Services may include gas cards, drivers training, clothing, etc.
  • Offer grant funding for in demand occupations:
Individual Training Account - Assist with funding for post-secondary education and certificate programs for in-demand occupations.

2025 Madison County Summer Youth Employment Program:
 
4 weeks of work, learning and personal growth. Youth work within their community. Worksites vary throughout Madison County. Youth will be paid $17.00 per hour for up to 22 hours per week.

Eligibility requirements:

Madison County resident between 14-20 years old
Currently receive one or more of the following benefits:
  •      Family Assistance
  •      SNAP (food stamps)
  •      SSI
  •      Medicaid
  •      HEAP

A member of a family whose income falls below the following amount for family/household size:
